"Funaoka Onsen", in north area of Kyoto, is actually a public bath, but more than that! You may feel as if you've gone back in time! And yes, it's true!

The Funaoka Onsen, was first established way back in the year of 1922.

Why so special is the amazing carvings on the ceiling and walls of the changing rooms. Those beautiful architecture is because it used to be a traditional Ryokan, built in 1922.

There are separate baths for men and women on alternate days. You can visit with your hands empty! There are counters that sale towels and showers.

There is also a sauna, several types of baths, and a small outdoor bath with a rock garden (rotenburo: open-air tub)
